All the ladies like whiskers and they would tease their husbands to vote for you and then you would be president.’’ Lincoln took this little girl’s advice and grew a beard. And yes, he did become president soon after! When Lincoln met Grace later on, he kissed her and said: ‘You see, the whiskers grow for you Grace.’’
