Funny: Seeing Eye Dog

There were two buddies one with a Doberman Pinscher and the other with a Chihuahua. The guy with the Doberman Pinscher says to his friend, "Let's go over to that restaurant and get something to eat."

The guy with the Chihuahua says, "We can't go in there. We've got dogs with us."

The buddy with the Doberman Pinscher says, "Just follow my lead." They walk over to the restaurant, the guy with the Doberman Pinscher puts on a pair of dark glasses, and he starts to walk in.

The bouncer at the door says, "Sorry mac, no pets allowed."

The man with the Doberman Pinscher says, "You don't understand. This is my seeing-eye dog."

The bouncer says, "A Doberman Pinscher?"

He says, "Yes, they're using them now, they're very good."

The man at the door says, "Come on in."

The buddy with the Chihuahua figures, "What the heck," so he puts on a pair of dark glasses and starts to walk in.

Once again the bouncer says, "Sorry, pal, no pets allowed."

The guy with the Chihuahua says, "You don't understand. This is my seeing-eye dog."

The bouncer at the door says, "A Chihuahua?"

The man with the Chihuahua says, "A Chihuahua??? They gave me a Chihuahua?!"

Humor: My order

There's a little local restaurant here that I went to the other day and ordered a tuna fish sandwich on white bread. "I'm sorry, sir," the waitress said, "but we're all out of white bread. Can we put that on wheat for you?"

Sure, what the heck.

You know how you get when you just crave something? I was in a tuna mode all that week, I guess, because I was back at the restaurant the next day, again ordering the same tuna sandwich. Got the same waitress as the day before. I told her, "On white, please."

"Gosh, I'm sorry, sir, can we put that on wheat for you? We're out of white today."

Hurm. Sure. Go ahead.

The craving didn't subside. For the third day in a row, I was back at the local cafe. This time, I thought I'd save myself and the very same waitress some grief. "A tuna fish sandwich, please, on wheat bread."

The waitress looked up from her pad, "Aren't you the guy who usually orders it on white?"

2 quick jokes - talking animals and a restaurant communication

Some race horses staying in a stable. One of them starts to
boast about his track record. "In the last 15 races, I've
won 8 of them!"

Another horse breaks in, "Well in the last 27 races, I've
won 19!!"

"Oh that's good, but in the last 36 races, I've won 28!",
says another, flicking his tail.

At this point, they notice that a greyhound dog has been
sitting there listening. "I don't mean to boast," says the
greyhound, "but in my last 90 races, I've won 88 of them!"

The horses are clearly amazed. "Wow!" says one, after a
hushed silence. "A talking dog."

---------------------------------------------------------

On a busy Friday night at the restaurant where I'd recently
started waiting tables, the owner suddenly emerged from the
kitchen and handed me money. "We're in trouble!" He said.
"We're out of quarters, and customers are waiting. Go next
door and get me $40 worth."

I ran to the supermarket next door, but a cashier said she
wasn't allowed to give out that many quarters. Determined,
I sprinted to a convenience store two blocks away, but it
was closed. At a gas station farther down the road, the
clerk took pity and gave me the four rolls of quarters.
Twenty minutes after I'd left, I handed the coin rolls to
my boss. "Where are the quarters?" He asked.

"Right here," I said breathlessly.

His face sank. "I meant chicken quarters."

Places to eat in Delhi: Breakfast @ Café Style, Noida

It was a relatively free Saturday today, after few last weekends, when we decided to have breakfast outside. We have thought about having breakfast out of home earlier as well but there were not enough (read good) options for that in Noida. In Dehli, there are better breakfast and brunch options for the weekends but traveling to them and that too empty-stomach is not a good thing to do for me:)

But I have read about this place in Sector 18 Noida, where they have good breakfast menu. So, we decided to check it today. The place is near Superstars and called 'Café Style'. It is a new joint but has received good reviews wherever I have read about it. It is quite laid-back, spacious and 'stylish'. The first thing that you notice on entering the place is the whole concept. The sofas are comfortable and the chairs are more than spacious. The place is spread in two floors and they have some outside sitting as well. They have some old artifacts (mostly from UK of 50s and 60s) spread across these sitting area - a 1954 scooter, a 1962 car and more.

Since we were there for breakfast, we decided to stick to their breakfast menu only. The breakfast menu is available from 8 AM to noon and has well thought variety. There is a Punjabi style breakfast (Alloo parantha along with curd, pickle, butter and tea), a Mumbai style breakfast (Pao Bhaji along with tea), an English style breakfast (three egg omelette of choice - masala, mushroom, cheese, toast, salad), an Obama style breakfast (bowl of cereals with milk, fruit salad, sausages, croissant and choice of juice) or just plain old cornflakes.

We order one Punjabi style breakfast and one English style breakfast. All the preparations were well done - paranthas were not oily at all and appropriately stuff, toast were properly 'toasted', omelette was also wonderful. And this all topped with masala tea was wonderful. Overall, we had a good experience. We did not go further than the breakfast menu - something left for next time.

Delhi Stuff: TGIF, Great India Place, Noida

I have always been fond of Tex-Mex cuisine mostly due to lots of cheese in it:). I liked going to Ruby Tuesdays earlier but they just got their menu all wrong and when I saw that they have removed Chimichanga from their menu, I stopped going there. I recent times, TGIF Noida has been my favorite place to eat food and have beer.

TGIF is a chain of restaurants worldwide and the whole concept of having old artifacts, different assorted items, bar and sitting setup is more or less same at all outlets. The overall feel is like of a relaxed Friday's evening when the work has finished for the week and you want to start weekend with some food and drinks. I really like the setup. The music is also not very much loud - one more thing which I like in an eating place. Overall, for me, a good place to go either with family or with colleagues. They have recently changes their menu - and Chimichanga is here now :)

Since I have been there a lot of time, I have nearly tried most of the stuff. My recommendation would be

For vegetarians - try 'Grilled Pita Dipper', 'Fried Mac & Cheese' or 'Dynabites' in appetizers. Try 'Broken Noodles' pasta or 'Quesdillas' or 'Chimichanga' as the main dish. Top it up with 'Fridays Sundae' - Vanilla ice cream topped with hot fudge, caramel sauce, nuts and cream. Yummy :):)

For non-vegetarians - try 'Chicken Fajita Nachos' or 'Three-For-All' scheme where you get three appetizers in one serving. For main dish, try 'Sizzling Chicken and Cheese' or 'Fridays Shrimp'.

The menu keeps changing and there would always be some offer at the Noida outlet since they are new and want to establish themselves. For example, they are currently having buy one and get one free offer on food and drinks both.

Photo of the Cafe of the Jaipur City Palace with waiters and tourists
When you have a good tourist location, having a place where you can give tourists a chance to rest, have something to drink and something to eat can be a great bonus. It can also make a lot of money if you have good decor, waiters dressed in ethnic uniforms, and high prices to match. This is exactly what this outdoor cafe / restaurant inside the Jaipur City Palace offers.

Pay extra for a la carte

One morning, Lisa and Sadie decided to go out for breakfast. The waitress told them that the special that morning was two eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, hash browns and toast for ?3.99. "That sounds good," said Sadie, "but I don't want the eggs."
"OK," said the waitress, but I will then have to charge you ?4.50." "Why," asked Lisa, "it doesn't make sense. "Because you will then in effect be ordering a la carte," the waitress replied. "Do you mean I'll have to pay for not taking the eggs?" Sadie asked.
"Yes," replied the waitress.
"OK then, I'll take the special," says Sadie. "How do you want your eggs done?" asked the waitress. "Raw and in the shell," Sadie replied. At the end of the meal, Sadie took the two eggs home.
