Sigma 50mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro Lens for Canon SLR Cameras
Sigma launched its first standard 50mm macro lens in 1990, and followed it up with an improved model in 1998. The advent of digital SLR cameras, however, required updated optical technology and a better imaging performance. Enter the latest incarnation of the 50mm macro lens, with an improved design that corrects for various aberrations. Designed exclusively for Canon SLR cameras, this macro lens is specially coated to get the best possible color balance while cutting down on ghosting caused by reflections from the digital image sensor. The lens also includes a floating focusing system, which allows you to precisely photograph objects throughout the entire focusing range. Most importantly, this standard macro lens makes it possible to enjoy better communication with your subject. When viewing through the camera's finder, you'll be able to move the subject and make precise adjustments.
Technical Details :
* Macro lens designed for Canon digital SLR cameras.
* 50mm focal length.
* f2.8 maximum aperture.
* Super Multi Coating reduces flare and ghosting common to digital SLR cameras.
* Screw-in lens hood included.
Lens Specifications :
* Focal length: 50mm
* Maximum aperture: f/2.8
* Lens construction: 10 elements in 9 groups
* Angle of view: 46.8 degrees
* Number of diaphragm blades: 7
* Minimum aperture: f/45
* Minimum focusing distance: 7.4 inches
* Maximum magnification: 1:1
* Filter size: 55mm
* Corresponding mount: Canon
* Dimensions: 2.8 inches in diameter and 2.6 inches long
* Weight: 11.3 ounces
* Warranty: 1 year
Customer Feedback :
The lens is an excellent lens for close-up photos. I am not a professional photographer but I try really hard to get good sharp photos. This lens will do the job.
Since it is also also a 50mm lens I have used it as a normal lens. The only problem with that is that over the years many of us have been spoiled with zoom lenses. With a zoom lens you can stand in one spot and zoom the lens in or out to get closer or father from your subject. With just the 50mm capability of this lens you have to physically move in or out to get a closer shot or a wider shot. This is not necessarily a criticism, just a comment about how we have been spoiled by zoom lenses.
I do not believe you will be disappointed with this lens. The price is great for the quality.

Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM Standard Zoom Lens for Canon SLR Cameras
The Canon EF 28-105mm standard zoom lens retains the optical capability of Canon's previous EF 28-105mm USM lens but with a refined exterior design. The lens is distinguished by a ring-type ultra-sonic monitor (USM) drive that provides silent, high-speed autofocusing, along with full-time manual focusing. The 1.6-foot close-focusing distance, meanwhile, lets you take great close-up portraits and nature shots. A good match for the Canon EOS A2/A2e or ELAN 7 series cameras with built-in flashes, the EF 28-105mm lens is an excellent zoom lens for everyday use. The lens carries a one-year warranty.
Technical Details :
* 28-105mm standard zoom lens with f/3.5-4.5 maximum aperture for Canon SLR cameras.
* Ring-type ultra-sonic monitor (USM) provides silent, high-speed autofocusing.
* 1.6-foot close focusing distance; rotating zoom system; 58mm filter size.
* Ideal for Canon EOS A2/Aw3 or ELAN 7 series cameras with built-in flashes.
* Measures 2.8 inches in diameter and 3 inches long; weighs 13.2 ounces.
Specifications :
* Focal length: 28-105mm
* Maximum aperture: 1:3.5-4.5
* Lens construction: 15 elements in 12 groups
* Diagonal angle of view: 75 to 23 degrees (at 30 feet)
* Focus adjustment: Inner focusing system with USM
* Closest focusing distance: 1.6 feet
* Zoom system: Rotating type
* Filter size: 58mm
* Dimensions: 2.8 inches in diameter, 3 inches long
* Weight: 13.2 ounces
Customer Feedback :
I am very satisfied with the overall performance of 28-105 mm. It focuses instantly and silently. USM is definitely an advantage and that was one of the reasons why I preferred Canon over other brands. The high pitched sound associated with focusing becomes quite irritating even at occasions when you do not need a silent operation. With a USM lens you do not hear anything and this is really fascinating. This lens produces very clear photos and is definitely better than the Canon EF 28-90 lens which is usually sold with the body for three reasons: 1. The grip feels much better. 2. The lens provides a larger aperture at longer focal lenghts. 3. Basically it has a focal length of 28-105 mm (vs 28-90). Even if there is a significant price difference I would suggest the 28-105 mm. You will NOT regret it.

Customer Feedback :
This is a serious lens. It is big and heavy and takes fantastic pictures. The image stabilization gets you an extra stop when shooting handheld, in that it minimizes shake enough. I've taken some spectacular twilight shots using this feature. It is a fantastic lens. Great sharpness, clarity, no spectral flares that I've noticed-- none at all-- quick, completely silent autofocus. Reasonably fast lens, the image stabilizer effectively makes it a little faster.
The only problem that I've had with the image stabilizer is that it sometimes makes it hard to frame up parallel lines at the edges of photos.

- The "Zoom Lock" device prevents the zoom setting from being changed inadvertently : The 28-300mm f3.5-6.3 Macro lens is equipped with a zoom lock to prevent the lens from creeping due to its own weight, and to offer protection whilst the lens is being carried.
- DG Lens : These are large-aperture lenses with wide angles and short minimum focusing distances. With an abundance of peripheral illumination, they are ideal lenses for digital SLR cameras whilst retaining suitability for traditional 35mm SLRs.
Customer Feedback :
It is a perfect everyday lens especially well suited to photograph outdoor events where there is close and far action. It is made of light plastic which makes it easy to carry but I would not want to drop it - especially when extended to 300mm. Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase.
The focus speed is slower than my D50's kit lens and it is also noisyer, but not annoying. The only odd fuction is the manual focus; the internal gears do not disengage so you feel the gears whirring as you turn the focus ring, it feels a bit rough. The Nikon model of this lens does not have a manual focus switch on the lens, you have to use the camera body switch.
A bonus with this lens is that is does good macro photography. I was able to get sharp shots of flowers at close range with totally blurred backgrouds.

This is a solid telephoto zoom for the amateur photographer. The only drawbacks with this lens is the zoom control, which could be smoother; filter rotation to the front (but that's standard in this price range); lack of lens hood.

Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens for Canon SLR Cameras
Bring small things into full-sized view with the Canon EF 100mm macro USM lens. Macro lenses can uncover detail that would be impossible to detect by the eye and give new perspective to extremely minute subjects such as insects or the petals of a small flower, and this lens is no exception. The lens offers such features as a three-group floating system for exceptional close-up performance; a secondary diaphragm that blocks stray light at f/2.8, which increases contrast when shooting wide open; a ultra-sonic monitor (USM) that provides outstanding autofocusing speed at all focusing distances; a wide manual focusing ring with smooth action; and full-time manual focus even in AF mode. The first lens in its class to feature inner focusing, the lens carries a one-year warranty.
Technical Details :
* 100mm macro USM lens with f/2.8 maximum aperture for Canon SLR cameras.
* Secondary diaphragm blocks stray light at f/2.8 for increased contrast.
* Ultra-sonic monitor provides outstanding autofocusing speed at all distances.
* 3-group floating system for exceptional close-up performance; full-time manual focus.
* Measures 3.1 inches in diameter and 4.7 inches long; weighs 21.1 ounces; 1-year warranty.
FEATURES:
* Focal length: 100mm
* Maximum aperture: 1:2.8
* Lens construction: 12 elements in 8 groups
* Diagonal angle of view: 24 degrees

* Closest focusing distance: 1 foot (film plane to subject)
* Filter size: 58mm
* Dimensions: 3.1 inches in diameter, 4.7 inches long
* Weight: 21.1 ounces
CUSTOMER FEEDBACK :
This is the lens I leave on my camera for general purpose use. At non-macro focus distances, it is a very fast lens in a convenient short-telephoto length. The images are sharp out to the corners. This is one of those great Canon lenses that probably deserves an L-series rating but is available without the red stripe and exorbitant cost. There is a lot of glass in this lens - it is heavy. I highly recommend buying the tripod collar as it allows you to attach the camera and lens to a tripod or ballhead with much better balance. If you plan on using the macro functionality, keep in mind that the effective f-stop of the lens goes way up when you're focusing at very close range. At 15cm from the front surface, it performs as though it were an f/9.
